New Solar System Unveiled in Voorhees

SOLAR SYSTEM PROJECT UNVEILED AT AVIAN PLAZA
VOORHEES -- A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 10:30am to announce the commissioning of a photovoltaic solar panel system (PV) installation project at the Avian Plaza Shopping Center, located at 2999 Evesham Road in Voorhees, NJ.

Many of the key players involved in the Avian Plaza solar system project were present, including Avian Plaza property owners Tanya and Myron “Bucky” Buchman and Jack Sattin, co-owner of the solar panel system.  Mayor Michael Mignona of Voorhees was in attendance and we were honored to have him speak about the dynamic project.  Also in attendance were representatives from Susquehanna Bank, the bank that financed the Avian Plaza solar system project.

The solar system at Avian Plaza is the largest installation to date in Voorhees Township, Camden County, NJ. The system was developed and installed by National Energy Partners, LLC a solar energy development company located in Mount Laurel, NJ. The system was built in about 30 days, with A&E Construction serving as the project sub-contractor. The 113 kilowatt system is comprised of two components, one for Traino's Wine and Spirits,  consisting of 103 kilowatts, and the second, a 10 kilowatt system, for the common areas of Avian Plaza. The system will be able to produce approximately 135,000 kilowatts hours of electricity annually. This is enough energy to avoid 142,752 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to taking 29 cars off the road per year or saving 41 acres of trees.

Jack Sattin and Myron Buchman had this to say about National Energy Partners: “NEP was knowledgeable, organized and efficient in the way they handled everything.” Sattin also noted, “We are always looking for an economical way to improve the property and we are fortunate to have a double benefit, substantial energy cost savings and a project that will support our environment now and into the future.” Jeremy Conner, CEO of National Energy Partners said, “With our Avian Plaza project, the owner is using the system for a specific tenant and to offset the cost of common area electricity to the Plaza’s tenants.   It is gratifying to know that we are helping small business owners.”

National Energy Partners, LLC (NEP) is looking to develop solar projects in Puerto Rico

NEP recently embarked on a trip to the sunny island of Puerto Rico.  Puerto Rico is a perfect environment for using solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for a variety of reasons.  The main reason is that Puerto Rico is highly dependent on oil and most of Puerto Rico’s power is supplied by diesel fuel, and utility rates on the island are 30-40% higher than what US consumers pay.  This high dependency on oil makes power very expensive for residents of Puerto Rico which is why switching to solar power is an excellent opportunity for businesses, individuals and utility companies on the island.  While on this exciting trip, NEP executives met with business owners and larger power users who may potentially be interested in using clean energy produced by solar systems.  Key people that NEP met with in Puerto Rico range from industry leaders to political leaders and Energy Procurement Companies who are partnering with local solar installation companies.  The company’s focus will be on developing and constructing solar systems for large electrical users such as hospitals, universities and large manufacturers.  They are looking for land owners with large parcels of land near utility companies to develop and construct large solar farms.  The power produced by those solar farms would be sold back to the local utility companies to then redistribute to residents and businesses in Puerto Rico.  NEP is looking forward to partnering with local government agencies, such as the Department of Puerto Rican Energy Affairs, to operate along with energy grant programs.  There is a huge potential for a wide variety of solar projects to be developed and constructed in this region.
